I am an international affairs professional, specializing in security and conflict issues. I bridge the academic and policy worlds. I specialize in research and analysis, design and evaluation of programs, and training and instruction.
My primary regional areas of focus include the Middle East and North Africa, as well as the Western Balkans.
I examine a number of factors that lead to conflict and can aid in conflict resolution.
I look at the role of religion in shaping identity, and related religious approaches to managing and addressing issues of conflict. I specialize on how to work with conservative or “hardline” religious actors and actively incorporate them into peace, development, and security efforts.
I address the interplay of psychosocial issues with security and conflict, how factors like stress and trauma can be understood and addressed when designing and implementing strategies for community resilience.
I have lived and worked internationally. I speak Arabic, German, and Hebrew.
I am married and have a daughter.
